Skin care is a very important part of life. You want to make sure that you look your best at any age. However, using store bought skin care products are not always the best. The chemicals are not always good to put on your skin. Having natural alternatives for skin care is a great way to keep your skin looking young and fresh for years. The following foods are greatly beneficial for skin care.


Olive Oil

Olive oil is an excellent natural source for moisturizing dry skin. It is also great for moisturizing hair as well. For skin use, apply a small amount, about Ω teaspoon to your skin by massaging in with your fingertips. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash off with warm water and a clean wash cloth. For your hair, apply a small amount to your hair avoiding the roots and paying special attention to the roots. Wash out thoroughly. Repeat the process once a week to keep your hair moisturized and smooth.


Honey has many healing properties. Apply it to your face in a circular motion with your fingertips and let it stay on for about ten minutes before washing off. This will exfoliate and tone your skin. If you mix it with cinnamon first you will also be able to unclog your pores and prevent acne. Finally, mix it with sugar and use as a natural exfoliator.


Apply egg whites to your skin and let it sit for about ten minutes. It will tighten your pores and help prevent acne. An egg yolk mask will restore your skinís ability to heal itself and protect against harmful agents.

Lemon Juice

Dilute some lemon juice with water and use as a toner. This is great if you have oily and acne-prone skin, but do not use if you have dry skin. It will also reduce redness and exfoliate your skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix some apple cider vinegar with green tea and use it as a toner. It is perfect for all skin types and can also be used as a spot treatment for acne. Adding some apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and drinking it is also beneficial for your skin health.


Eating sugar is not always the best thing for your health, but using it for skin care is very beneficial. Mix it with some oil and use it as an exfoliator on your face and body. Olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, jajoba oil and avocado oil are great for this.


Using yogurt as a face mask can help rejuvenate your skin and give it a healthy glow. It has natural acids that work as a light exfoliator. Put it on for a few minutes and then rinse well.


If you have irritation or sensitive skin, oatmeal will be your best friend. Grind it to a fine powder and use it to exfoliate the skin. Add it to yogurt, honey or olive oil for added benefits.
