A Handy Checklist for Organizing a Christmas Party
To ensure that your Christmas party, for home or for the office, goes off without a hitch and that everyone has a good time, go over this handy checklist and be sure you have everything you need well in advance. Don’t hesitate to add to this list or ignore items that don’t apply, and keep it with you at all times so you can be organized this entire season.
For an office party, can you set up food and tables in the kitchen? Would it be better to bring the food into a conference room? For home, where will everyone sit? Should you put a child’s table in another room to create space? Make a note of how many spaces you need and be prepared to rent some tables and chairs if necessary.
Food and Beverage
Always overestimate how much you need of both. Write out the appetizers, main course, desserts, and beverages you’ll need to purchase or order.
Again, overestimate how many you’ll need. You can always store away unused items for next time.
Have you planned out the space? Christmas is usually all about decorations, so make a plan. For an office, you may not have an elaborate tree but some garland and poinsettia plants can create a festive mood.
For trash and foil for leftovers.
This can really make a party. Soft background music is sufficient; don’t worry about hiring a deejay or band!
Gifts or “Secret Santa”
If you’re not officially exchanging gifts, consider some small favors you can give to everyone to really make it a festive Christmas party.
