Constantly In A Bad Mood and Unsatisfied With Life?
Many adult suffer from being in a bad mood and being unsatisfied with life. Many people call that a mid-life crisis. It is more common than you think and there are many ways to change it before you end up being extremely unhappy for a very long time.
See a Psychologist
If you are extremely unhappy with your life, one of the first things that you can do is work with a therapist who can help you deal with the mental struggles that you are having. Being in a perpetual bad mood and feeling unsatisfied are signs of depression. Working with a licensed psychology is the best way to work through a bout of depression. A therapist will ask questions to help you realize what is good in your life. You may need to have a few sessions before any breakthroughs occur, but do know that many people go to therapists for these needs exactly.
Need for Medication
Your psychologist may suggest that you take an antidepressant or other medication or possibly even an herbal supplement to help bring you out of your funk. You can get a second opinion from your medical doctor, because your medical doctor might be one who actually has to write the prescription. It will be completely up to you whether or not you want to take a medication for mental health.
Do Not Run From Your Problems
One thing that does not work is running away from the problems that you have. A vacation might seem like a really good idea, but once you return from the vacation, the same problems will still exist and you might have new ones from the work that you missed while you were on vacation.
List the Cons
What might work for you is to make a list of what is happening in your life. But, this list will not weigh the pros and cons, this list will only have the pros. When you are in a funk like this, it is only necessary to list the good things in your life. Hopefully, you will realize that the good things in your life are not things at all, but are people.
Spend Time in Nature
Something else that can be very good for people who are perpetually grumpy and unsatisfied is to spend time in nature. This would be perfect time to go on hikes or go kayaking. This is not a time to walk on cement through the neighborhood, but to go to a nature preserve and trek through a trail in the dirt. Find some light whitewater and steer your kayak through it. It is amazing what time in nature will do for the soul.
If you are not in a place where you can commune with nature, it might also be beneficial for you to find somewhere to volunteer. When you volunteer your time, you do something for other people and that can make you feel really good. You can also see that your life is not worth being grumpy about and you might start to change your attitude.
