Don’t Miss These Classic Christmas Movies This Season!
When it gets too cold outside or when the family is looking for something they can all do together, it’s time to pull out the DVD collection and watch some classic Christmas movies. There’s no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to share some laughs – and some tears – while watching everyone’s favorites.
Timeless movies such as “A Christmas Carol” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” are often shown on television during this season, and with good reason. They’re stories of struggles that are common with every family and to which everyone can relate, no matter the time period or setting. Children may also appreciate “A Muppet Christmas Carol” or one of the Charlie Brown holiday specials which are usually available on DVD.
If you’re looking for more updated and lighthearted Christmas fare, consider “Home Alone,” “Elf,” or “The Santa Clause.” These will keep everyone laughing and are not so heavy-handed that someone might find their stories more depressing than uplifting!
For the grownups only, if you’re looking for something a bit edgier for your Christmas viewing, consider “Bad Santa” or “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” You may not think of a crude comedy or somewhat frightening cartoon movie as being Christmas classics, but they can be entertaining choices when the children have gone to bed and you’re ready for a switch from the standard family fare.
Of course, holidays are about tradition and this means starting your own if you so desire. Your neighbors or family may not think that a movie without a Christmas theme such as “Star Wars” or “Avatar” is the right choice, but if you and your family will love it, why not enjoy any and all of these choices?
