Five Reasons To Be Happy To Be Single
You may have just come off a bad relationship, or perhaps you have been using all your energy to focus on that new job, or Mr Smoking Hot has just not materialized yet, but for whatever reason, you find yourself single. Being single is thought by many women to be a status you would want to avoid. It signifies loneliness, dateless nights, and a purposeless life. Wrong! Being single can be a positive time in your life if you just embrace it. Here are five good reasons to be happy you are single.
Take Advantage of Opportunities
Now is the time to take advantage of opportunities that arise that you may not do if there was a significant other in your life. Always wanted to explore the art museums of Europe? Plan that trip you’ve always wanted, and go wherever you want, whenever you want. You will be able to indulge in a passion like roller derby without having to explain why you want to do it. Do you want to start your own catering business? Now is the time to throw yourself into a new undertaking without distraction.
Work On What’s Inside
Take advantage of having time to yourself to take care of your self confidence. Take a combination yoga and meditation class or go away on a weekend women’s empowerment retreat. Take some courses that will give you skills to further your career. Take a philosophy course or explore Eastern religions. See a therapist if you want to work on a particular behavior or phobia that is holding you back from being the person you want to be.
Work On What’s Outside
Join a gym to get into better physical shape. Attend a group like Weight Watchers if you need help losing a few pounds. Experiment with a new makeup or get your hair cut in that new style you have been wanting to try. You can do whatever you want, there is no one there to tell you they don’t like the new changes you have made.
Give To Others
Doing volunteer work is a reward in itself. Drive cancer patients to their appointments or work in a soup kitchen. It makes you feel good inside to know you are helping others. Work on promoting a special cause that is close to your heart like a greener environment. There is a great deal of satisfaction in doing a selfless deed.
Being part of a couple, it is hard sometimes to just spend time with the girls. Now that you are single, spend time with your other single friends and get out and socialize. Go to a club and dance the night away. Spend an entire day shopping at all of your favorite stores together. Go to see your favorite band in concert, or just get together with one or two close gal pals to share some tea and sympathy at a local tea shop.
Being single does not mean that your social life ends. Take advantage and follow your dreams. Get out and meet people. Have fun!
