Get Taylor Swift’s Sweet ARIA Awards Look
Taylor Swift has emerged over the past few years as a true fashion diva, always looking her best at awards shows and red carpet events. She has gone from fresh-faced beauty and American Idol winner to a designer’s favorite, and her recent appearance at the Australian ARIA awards demonstrated that completely. Taylor arrived in a beautiful long white ivory gown with fitted, crisscross bodice and full skirt. Her hair was pulled up and back in a sleek twisted bun and she sported soft blue eye shadow to complement her delicate features.
To get Taylor’s look, you may need help from a friend to get your hair into the soft twisted bun. It helps to work one side at a time. Part the hair down the middle and twist up one side, starting above the ear. Pin the twist as you go. Once you reach the middle of the nape of the neck, start on the other side and twist it above the ear, pinning as you go along.
After twisting, take the hair left in the middle and wrap it in a loose bun. Be sure you pull up any stray hairs left underneath so you have a neat, completed look. Once you have the bun twisted, check your hair for anything stray and tuck it into the twist on either side.
You can also get Taylor’s soft makeup look by adding just a touch of blue eye shadow to your style. Blue is a very difficult color to add to your eye makeup because it’s deep and bright. The key to adding blue eye shadow is to add just a touch in the crease of your eyelid, and then a very light line along the lashes. Blend completely. Never add blue eye shadow over the crease or up to the eyebrows as this will be overpowering. For the classic cat eyes look, pull the line of the shadow past the outer edge of your eyes and curve it up just slightly.
For a very formal event, you might add a small amount of eye shadow to the outer edge at the lower eyelid. This should be a very thin line along your eyeliner. Again, avoid using a thick amount as you’ll look too done up. Keep it light and subtle and this will bring out your eyes without letting the shadow be the centerpiece of your style.
Remember to step back and check your look before you leave. If your blue eye shadow seems like it’s too much, blend it a bit more and remove some of its thickness. This will keep you looking your best and will bring out your eyes.
