Glitz and Glamour Are Back With “Fashion Star”
Reality television is addictive because many shows are competitive, with the element of an elimination of one contestant each episode. It’s easy to get caught up in the drama as you root for your favorite or cheer when someone gets voted off, which is part of the appeal of NBC’s “Fashion Star.”
Hosted by supermodel Elle Macpherson, “Fashion Star” follows a weekly contest held between amateur fashion designers as they are given materials and instructions for that week’s creation, and then have their creations judged and potentially purchased by buyers from major department stores. Those contestants who fail to have their items purchased are eligible for elimination from the competition that week.
If it seems like a lot of pressure to put on unknown and amateur designers, being judged on national television and having their quick-made creations fussed over by buyers, it certainly is, which is part of the appeal of “Fashion Star”! There is no room for error when you have a short amount of time and limited materials to use to create something that must impress buyers practiced at purchasing from some of the best design houses in the world. The pressure is on every week for every potential “Fashion Star” on the show.
For those who love this type of reality show and who love glitz and glamour, “Fashion Star” is the perfect choice. You may be amazed at how well many of those designers answer to that pressure, coming up with stunning creations that are perfect for the shelves and racks of such stores as Macy’s and H&M. Be sure you follow along every week so you can see your favorite “Fashion Star” make it to the top and achieve their dream career in high fashion and design!
