How to Make Apple Christmas Ornaments
When you’re making Christmas ornaments, it can be a really good idea to make a few of them using apples. You can cut them into a wide variety of shapes and they end up looking really pretty and smelling divine. You can even add a touch of cinnamon to the ornaments to make them smell super Christmassy.
Making Cinnamon and Apple Christmas Tree Ornaments
While these are primarily designed to be hung on the Christmas tree, they can also be placed into a bowl or they can be given to teachers as a thank you gift. You could even place them in Christmas stockings. They are quite simple to make and the whole family can get involved if you want them to. Before you start you should cut some apples up to make an apple sauce that will be used in the recipe.
Take a bowl and mix together an equal amount of apple sauce and cinnamon. Make sure that you mix them together with your hands so that they start to create a small moist ball. If you’re struggling to roll the ball, add a little more cinnamon.
Take a pastry board and place the ball onto it. Roll the mixture out so that it is around ¼ inch thick. Then use your favourite cookie shapes to cut out the cookies. Put a small hole in the top of each cookie as this will be used to hang them onto the tree.
Turn your oven on to 25 Degrees F and bake on a lightly greased baking sheet until the dough is firm. Remove them from the oven and leave to cool.
Use yarn or ribbon to tie through the hole at the top of each cookie. Then te a small knot in it so that it stays there.
Decorate the cookies any way that you want to. You can use glitter and coloured balls if you want to. Be as creative as you like and then finish by hanging them on your Christmas tree.
This is just one way to make apple ornaments. If you want to use whole apples then you can tie a small red ribbon around the top of them and coat them with some form of gloss to ensure that they do not go mouldy. They are inexpensive to make and very simple too.
