How to Make an Easy Cranberry Punch for the Holidays
Some holidays are just not complete with a nice cranberry punch being served. Cranberries are typically associated with Thanksgiving in the United States and with Christmas the world over, as they are a fall fruit that is easy to add to many different dishes. Most families in the U.S. serve cranberries on their own as a side dish for holiday dinners, and a cool cranberry punch can be a good alternative to alcohol for your holiday meal.
Cranberry punch is also very easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. To make it something special, invest in a good punch bowl and cups set if you don’t have one already as this will create a lovely presentation for any punch you serve this year, and it makes it easier to serve your guests.
To Make Your Cranberry Punch, You Need the Following Ingredients:
- 2 quarts cranberry juice cocktail, chilled
- 1 12-ounce can frozen orange juice, thawed
- 1 12-ounce can frozen pink lemonade, thawed
- 1 quart ginger ale or sparkling water, chilled
To make your cranberry punch, mix the first three ingredients in a large punch bowl. Wait until you are ready to serve to pour in the ginger ale or sparkling water, and add ice cubes to keep it cold.
For a fun twist you can use different types of cranberry juice cocktail, such as cran-grape or cran-apple or another mixture. You can also add a quart or half gallon of vanilla ice cream to the center of your punch bowl and pour your ingredients over this; the ice cream will melt slightly and create a creamy, fizzy mixture that is very sweet and tangy and a favorite choice for the kids. If you add ice cream, you may want to use sparkling water rather than ginger ale as vanilla ice cream and ginger ale don’t always mix.
You can also add in some actual cranberries or grapes for visual interest and added flavor, and offer some vodka to your adult guests if you prefer. This will make your cranberry punch the best your guests have had and will make your holiday complete!
