Is Angelina Jolie Giving Up Acting?
Megastar Angelina Jolie recently set tongues wagging when she stated during an interview with Britain’s Channel 4 news that she may very well give up acting when her children become teenagers. This would be so she can be more available to her family. Was the controversial star serious, and when would this happen?
No one really knows if Angelina was completely serious or if she would actually stop acting, versus just cutting back on her schedule. As with most mothers, she may simply need to make those decisions when the time comes, and as she sees a need in her family to be home more often.
It may very well be that her children decide to follow in her footsteps and join her on the movie set as they get older, or it may be that they don’t need as much attention as she assumes when they hit their teen years. She may find that she has plenty of time to take on more projects without neglecting her children.
However, Angelina has always been known as a very involved mother who puts her children and partner, Brad Pitt, first over any project, so she may very well step back from acting or take a short break if she thinks that’s what’s best for everyone. Their family has a very close bond currently as they are often seen holding hands when out together, but when children become teens they tend to pull away and need their parents guidance during these turbulent years. If Angelina sees a need in her family for more of her attention, no doubt that’s exactly what she’ll give each and every one of them.
If Angelina does decide that her children need her more when they’re teenagers, that decision may come more quickly than many people realize. Her and Brad’s oldest child, adopted son Maddox, was born in 2001, so he only has another year or so before he hits his teens. Their second oldest, adopted son Pax, was born in 2003 so he too will be a teen in just a few short years.
Her and Brad’s biological daughter Shiloh was born in 2006 and their adopted daughter Zahara was born in 2005, and their twins Knox and Vivienne were born in 2008, so they have a few more years before they become teenagers, but note that their ages are all very close. Angelina and Brad will have a house full of teens before they know it!
No one knows what the future holds for Angelina and her family, but even if she did step back from acting, she has a tremendous legacy of films and projects already completed that can be enjoyed over and over again. There’s also no reason she could not come back to acting or even directing after her children are grown and she feels the desire to be involved in another project. Her fans will simply need to wait and see what unfolds for this tremendously talented actress in the next few years.
