Kate Hudson Steals the Show at the Venice Film Festival
Film festivals are about showcasing a filmmaker’s latest work and in some cases, about finding distributors for those films so they can be showcased worldwide. For stars and celebrities, it’s also about making an appearance on the red carpet so you can increase your exposure and the publicity surrounding your work.
Most people are aware of the Cannes film festival, perhaps the best-known festival in the world, but there are other very highly respected festivals the world over. This year the Venice film festival showcased work from some of the industry’s best directors and writers and actors, and their red carpet rivaled any awards show.
Kate Hudson was the easy winner on the red carpet of this year’s Venice film festival. She arrived in a gorgeous gold Atelier Versace gown that hugged her curves perfectly. The soft color was a perfect complement to her fair skin tone and the metallic accents gave it a luxurious appearance that wasn’t overdone. An inset slit curved around her torso and leg for added visual interest.
Naomi Watts also got rave reviews for her Marchesa lace gown, also a pale tan color that perfectly accented her blond locks and fire engine red lipstick. The lace overlay brushed against her shoulders in a very demure style and was a perfect choice her.
Some of the looks on the red carpet were a bit over the top, as was former model Laetitia Casta’s peek-a-boo lace Dolce & Gabbana dress. The long lace overlay covered high-top bikini panties and a black bra, and while the look was daring, it seemed out of place for a red carpet appearance. Kasia Smutniak made a much better appearance in a flowing peach colored Alberta Ferretti soft knit gown with long sleeves and high boat neck. The color was feminine and warm and the cut of the gown hugged her figure in all the right places.
Olga Sorokina also turned heads in her navy blue sleeveless jersey dress with long flowing skirt and leather straps around the bodice. The look was classy but a bit edgy and made for a unique look on the red carpet.
Another red carpet moment that made the hit-or-miss list was the ice blue lace column gown worn by Isabella Ferrari. She too choose a peek-a-boo lace number over a corset and shorts ensemble, and while the lace overlay was feminine and demure, the entire look seemed jumbled and out of place for the event.
While there were many looks that made the red carpet and the parties before and after the festival, Kate seemed to win over the crowd with her classic and stylish look. She has certainly established herself as much more than just an actress and Goldie Hawn’s daughter; she is a fashion icon wherever she goes.
