Keri Russell’s Casual But Glamorous Style
Keri Russell is best known to audiences as the title character in the former TV series Felicity, following the life of Felicity Porter as she attends fictional University of New York, and who sends tapes of her experiences back home to her friend Sally. The show ran for four seasons and was a huge success, earning Keri several awards and nominations throughout the run. Onscreen and off, Keri is known for her easy, casual style that is anything but fussy.
Her long curly hair is such a signature that Keri received quite a bit of backlash during the second season of the show, when she chopped off her locks without telling the producers what she was about to do. The viewer ratings dropped during that season and it actually became a public joke, with references to the apparent mistake in other TV shows. For example, in the 2001 sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch episode “Making the Grade,” animosity over an exposé she had written prompts Sabrina to ask, “Why is everyone looking at me like I’m the girl who told Felicity to cut her hair?”
Today Keri keeps her hair about shoulder-length and lets the natural curls stay as they are, with soft waves highlighting her great bone structure and giving her a frame for her face. Keri may occasionally pull them straight for certain appearances when she wants a sleek and chic style, but her full curls are one of her best features and she shows them off in style.
Soft color and unfussy pieces are also a trademark of Keri’s, as she may be seen in hot pink or ice blue or even pistachio green. These colors work well for her light skin tone and help her to stand out on the red carpet, where she might otherwise get lost in a sea of black dresses and tuxedoes. Soft pink shades give her a youthful, energetic look and bright colors give her a sense of energy. These choices are unique and give Keri a great style that is all her own.
Keri also keeps her makeup soft and unfussy and very casual. She rarely wears dark or bold colors and chooses just a hint of makeup to bring out her best features. Peach and pink colors work well for her and she knows how to keep the colors toned down so she looks her best. Because her skin is flawless and she prefers a natural look, it’s easy for her to look good with minimal makeup. This gives her a very unfussy look overall. Keri’s natural style is one that many women envy but one that anyone can try, if they take a page from her book and keep their own style light and natural.
