Lip Liners: Do You Need Them?
Lip liners are a very controversial product. Many women, especially women who sell cosmetics, will tell you that you need to wear lip liner everyday, no matter what type of lip product you are wearing. Lipstick, gloss or lip stain all require lip liners according to some women. Other women feel that lip liner is a waste of time and money and should never be worn. So what group of women is right? The truth is, neither of them are right. There are some occasions where lip liner is beneficial, and others were it is not necessary. Use the guideline below to determine if you should wear lip liner or not.
- Lip Definition
Most people have lips that have definition and shape. However, some women are cursed with miss-shapen lips or lips that are blend right into the colour of their skin. These women would absolutely benefit from wearing a lip liner. Since putting the lipstick or gloss on without definition could make your application look messy, be sure to apply a similar coloured lip liner before the lipstick or lip gloss.
- Feathering Prevention
Many women experience some level of feathering when wearing lipstick or lip gloss. Other women never experience it. And then others sometimes experience it. If you always experience feathering, or anticipate that you may notice it later on go with a good lip liner to prevent it from happening.
- Long-Lasting Colour
Do you constantly notice that your lip colour wears off before you want it to? One solution to this is to apply lip liner to the entire surface of your lip under your lipstick or lip gloss. The lip liner doesn’t fade as easily as other products so you will still have some colour after your lipstick has worn off. Just make sure that colours are very similar.
- Blending Bold Colours
If you plan on wearing a bold lipstick or lip gloss colour, one way to make it look good against your skin is to use a lip liner that is very close to the natural colour of your lips. The tiny barrier will make sure that the lip colour does not clash with your skin tone.
- In Place of Lipstick
Like the colour of a lip liner better than your lipstick? Go ahead and put it all over your lips and use in place of the lipstick or lip gloss.
