Making a Quick and Easy Citrus Punch for the Holidays
A citrus punch is a great choice for the holidays as it adds some zest and zing to your dinner table or party spread, and it can be a great choice when you are not serving alcohol. Children love citrus punch because it’s fruity and sweet, and the punch goes well with hot appetizers and hors d’oeuvre you may be serving. A large punch is also a good way to keep a group happy; you don’t need to worry about putting out enough soda or juice or other beverages when you serve a punch.
It can also be the centerpiece of a smaller party; you can serve punch and a few finger sandwiches or desserts for a casual holiday party with friends.
To make a citrus punch you don’t need many ingredients and you can mix and match these ingredients according to taste. Some will even add ice cream to their punch for a sweet, cold treat.
Your Citrus Punch Will Need the Following:
- 1 6-ounce can frozen orange juice, undiluted and still frozen
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 12 ounces frozen cranberry juice, undiluted and still frozen
- 6 ounces frozen pineapple juice, undiluted and still frozen
- 3 cups water
- 2-liter bottle of lemon-lime soda (Sprite or 7-Up)
Making your punch is very easy; you simply mix the first five ingredients together in a punch bowl, allowing the frozen juices to thaw slightly, and then add in the lemon-lime soda right when you are ready to serve. Don’t mix after you add the soda as this will cause it to lose carbonation and go flat.
You can add some scoops of vanilla ice cream or sherbet once it’s mixed, as these will eventually dissolve and add a creamy and sweet touch to the punch. If you’re having an adults-only party you can also add in some vodka or have vodka available for guests to add a splash to their own cup as preferred. This will make your holiday one to enjoy and everyone will love your zesty citrus punch!
