Making Blood Orange Punch for Your Holiday Party
Blood orange punch obviously doesn’t have blood in it, but is made with raspberry or cranberry juice and orange juice. The combination of the dark red fruit with orange juice cuts down on the acidity of the punch and creates a very fruity and yet not too tart drink. It’s a great choice for the holidays and one your guests are sure to love.
If you’re having an adults-only party you can add some vodka to the punch or even serve it with champagne for a great treat on New Year’s Eve. Some make it with different liquors and this is according to your preference.
To Make Your Blood Orange Punch, You Need a Large Punchbowl and the Following Ingredients:
- 2 32-ounce bottled cranberry juice, well chilled
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 16-ounce can frozen orange juice, thawed
- Ice cubes
Combine all these ingredients in your punch bowl and mix until the sugar is completely dissolved. Be sure it’s well chilled before you serve; add ice according to needs. You can make it to taste by adding or taking away some sugar, and by using raspberry juice instead of the cranberry juice, or a cranberry mixture such as cran-grape or cran-apple.
For a more zesty treat, you can add lemon-lime soda to the mix when you’re ready to serve, and can even add real cranberries and orange or lemon slices to the top for more visual appeal. Continue to add the cranberry and orange juice as the punch gets low so it doesn’t get flat and tasteless.
Some might even add scoops of vanilla sherbet to the mix as this will dissolve slightly and give everything a creamy texture and a sweet taste. You can even put a half gallon or quart of vanilla ice cream to the middle of your punch bowl and pour your ingredients over this. There is no right way or wrong way to make any punch recipe, so have some fun with it by mixing up your ingredients and making it to taste for your holiday party.
