Exercising in the water is a great cardiovascular workout and it is good for people who have joint problems.

Water weights are made out of foam and are often made in the shape of dumbbells. These come in different weights and can be purchased according to the intensity of workout you want to have. The weights are able to add extra resistance when you are in the water. Some of the upper body exercises that you can use are bicep curls, side raises, pec flys while standing in the water, tricep kickbacks and other lower body movements. One may also use weights in the water while doing the breaststroke while swimming. The body can become quickly toned when doing a total body workout with this equipment in the water.
A beach ball or an aqua ball can be used for many types of exercise routines and games being done in the water. You can simply hold onto the ball and walk from the shallow part of a pool into the deeper part to get a resistance workout, this exercise engages the core of the upper body. You can also use the ball in the deep part of the pool and push in down into the water as you are floating on your stomach. You can push the ball in the direction of the thighs and then bring it back in front of your head.
An aqua vest has weights in it and can be used in the water to help add resistance forces to your body when you are walking or jogging in the pool. These vests are great for helping one to get an effective cardiovascular workout. There are two different types of workouts that you can have while wearing the aqua vest, these are either doing a walking workout in the shallow end of the pool or doing a running workout while staying in the same place in the end of the pool that is deeper.
