If you don’t change your makeup colors for spring, you may find yourself with a dark and heavy look that isn’t right for the season, and may be denying yourself the chance to feel lighter and brighter once the warmer weather rolls in. No doubt you change your wardrobe for spring and put away the dark and dreary winter colors in exchange for light pastels and other spring shades, and you should do the same for your makeup products. Consider the spring colors you want to have in your makeup bag.

For eyes, you may have relied on brown and grey for the winter but now is the time to lighten up. Try a soft creamy pink to brighten your eyes and keep things neutral. You can also experiment with bright blue or green. Use just a small amount of these strong colors in the crease of your eyes and blend carefully. It’s also good to use a lighter eyeliner for spring, so go from black to brown or charcoal grey.

Your lip color may also need to change for spring. A fire engine red is a very sexy color but it’s also very heavy and may not go with your new spring wardrobe colors. Choose a bright or even neon pink, or a pink gloss for a lighter, everyday look. Rosy shades are also good for when you need deeper color in the spring. Add a shimmery gloss over a rosy shade to tone it down and give it a bit of sparkle for springtime.

It’s good to adjust your foundation during spring and summer as your skin may get darker during these months. While you might want to change to a darker foundation, you want to use a lighter color on cheeks for your blush. Try a light pink for daytime and a rosy color for night. Be sure you blend and only use a small amount so the makeup doesn’t look garish in bright spring sunshine.

Change out your polish colors in springtime, and be sure to give yourself a good pedicure as you’ll be wearing sandals soon! Spring is a good time for pink but also for bright blue, green, and orange when you want a fun look. You can choose darker shades of these colors for nighttime and for when you don’t want your color to be overwhelming. Coordinate your polish color with your outfit but have fun with it, and don’t assume that red and pink are the only colors you can choose for your nails!

Be sure you shop early for spring colors and change what you can as the new season arrives. This will keep you looking your best even in the warm weather.
