Tent Vacation – Where to Find the Best Tent Places
Camping is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors when you are on vacation. Sure, staying a in a luxury 5 star hotel equipped with all the vanities you could ever think of, is not necessarily a bad idea. But there is something about the rawness of sleeping in tents that cannot be replicated by any hotel. One of the biggest keys to a fun tented vacation is in selecting a campsite. If you are on a long trip e.g. hiking up a mountain range, this is a decision you will probably have to make more than once along the way. Still, there are some fundamentals.
Like first acquainting yourself with a map of the area. While even the best of maps cannot possibly have all the information on the terrain, it can provide some good pointers as to which are the best places to set up camp. Choose a location that is shielded from direct wind such as the base of a hill, a huge rock outcrops, forested area or naturally sunken lands. You have to however be particularly careful with sunken lands as you could be caught in a pool of water in the event that it rains heavily.
Unless you are carrying plenty of water, it would be important to camp close to a water source. Whereas you can use the water you carried for cooking and drinking, you may need a separate source of water for bathing and laundry. And in case the campsite is not serviced by toilets, designate a particular area some distant from the tent that can serve as the lavatory.
