The Oddest Celebrity Baby Names!
It often seems as if celebrities live in a world far removed from reality. They get into the best clubs without waiting in line, buy things that other people only dream about, and wear the most fabulous jewels and fashions. They also give their children the oddest sounding names, some of which don’t make a bit of sense!
Some interesting celebrity baby names may have a certain appeal; when actress Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter Apple, she said it seemed “clean” and “wholesome.” While the name might be a bit odd, fans may appreciate the symbolism. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and his wife, Jools, named their three daughters Poppy, Daisy and Petal. These names too may be unique but still have a certain sweetness to them. Other names, however, may leave you scratching your head in confusion.
Andre Benjamin and Erykah Badu named their first son Seven Sirius, which is quite a mouthful to say. Since then, Badu has given birth to two more kids, Puma and Mars. While the names may be symbolic, it would be difficult to avoid picturing the brand of sneakers and the red planet when calling either child.
Actors David Duchovny and Tea Leoni seemed to show a lack of imagination when they named their child Kyd. While the name has a certain toughness to it, calling your child by something that sounds like a pronoun can seem very impersonal.
Illusionist Penn Jillette never seems to take anything seriously, and naming his children is no exception. Moxie CrimeFighter and Zolten are the names he chose for his two children, two of the most unusual names ever recorded. Actor Jason Lee also chose something quite odd for his child, Pilot Inspektor. While there are no rules about using an occupation for a name, it’s definitely a tag his child will need to adjust to over the years.
Nicolas Cage chose something of a showbiz name for his child, whom he named Kal-El. For those who don’t understand the connection, Kal-El is the birth name of Superman. Perhaps Nic should have chosen the adoptive name of the Man of Steel, Clark Kent, instead. Clark Cage actually has a nice ring to it!
Legendary musician Frank Zappa is known for his eclectic style when performing and he didn’t lose his sense of expression when naming his four children, Dweezil, Moon Unit, Ahmet and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen. Fortunately Dweezil himself has become a very successful musician, where his name is more tolerated than it may be in other industries, and Moon Unit is a successful musician, actress, and writer. Ahmet is also a successful writer and was married to actress Selma Blair for a short time, and Diva has had small parts in various TV shows and movies. Despite their names, the children all seem to have adjusted to their chosen careers perfectly!
