The Red Carpet Queen of 2012
This year saw some great outfits and memorable style on the red carpet, and some looks that made waves. Who can forget Angelina Jolie and her famous leg which jutted out from her soft black velvet gown at the Oscars, or Kristen Stewart in her sheer number for the premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2? With so many great looks from which to choose, it was difficult to find just one red carpet queen of 2012, so apparently a few women will need to share the title this year!
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, emerged as a true royal on the red carpet this year, adjusting quite well to her very public image. The teal green cap sleeved gown she wore to the Olympics was regal and flattering and a perfect choice for the event. The fitted bodice and flowing skirt were a beautiful combination and the color was bold but elegant and a great choice for her skin tone and hair color. All of her choices were stunning and she has given Hollywood starlets true competition when it comes to style and taste in fashion.
Actress Diane Kruger is another that always stuns when on the red carpet, and 2012 was no exception for her. At the Cannes film festival she arrived in a fitted metallic silver Vivienne Westwood gown that gave height to her delicate frame. The waist was folded and the long skirt hugged her hips and legs easily. She looked like a living awards statue and left the crowd stunned, as she always does on the red carpet.
Another actress who never fails to impress is Cate Blanchett, and she again showed off her perfect fashion sense at the red carpet premiere for Life of Pi in December of this year. Her Rodarte gown was unique and unusual for its flowing skirt and fitted jacket-like bodice with velvet waistcoat. The baby blue chiffon was a perfect complement to her delicate and fair skin and she made everyone’s best dressed lists that evening.
Emma Stone, whose star has been rising over the past few years, also emerged as a fashion diva on the red carpet in 2012. The red flowing dress she wore to the Oscar ceremony was very stunning, as not many redheads would dare to wear red for fear of overdoing the color. The dress had a large bow over one shoulder which was a perfect accent to her look and which was a perfect accessory for the occasion. It was a unique choice as it allowed her to stand out in a sea of black dresses and cemented her place as a red carpet queen for 2012, and one of many for the year.
