Why Every Home Should Have an Egg Timer
Does your home have an egg timer? If not then now is the time to invest in one. All homes used to have an egg timer to ensure that they were left with perfect eggs every time. This was back in the days when eggs were a large part of a family’s diet. These days’ people eat all kinds of things. Eggs for breakfast are practically a thing of the past. That is why the egg timer isn’t as popular today as it once was.
The Purpose of an Egg Timer
The egg timer was developed so that you would be left with a perfectly cooked egg every time. These days there are different types of egg timers available. Some are battery operated, while others you simply turn over. The ones which you turn over are the traditional kind. They have an hourglass shape and there is powder filled in the bottom part. You turn the timer over and the powder starts to fall. Once all of the powder has disappeared, that is when your eggs are supposed to be done.
Of course you need to ensure that you have placed the eggs in boiling water beforehand. If you place them in cold water then you will need to wait until it is boiling before you start the timer.
Other Uses for an Egg Timer
If you don’t eat many eggs then there are other uses for an egg timer. You could use them to make yourself more productive. For example, you could give yourself a couple of minutes to finish a specific task. For this you will need a timer which makes a noise when the time is up. You can use it for anything such as cleaning out your closet or picking up the laundry. It’s so easy to get distracted and an egg timer can ensure that you stay focused on the task in hand.
